Bath Communities Partnership

the future depends on what you do in the present

Who are Bath Communities Partnership?

BCP

The Partnership came together early in 2000 to make a bid to the South West Regional Development Agency (RDA), seeking funding from the Government's Single Regeneration Budget Round 6 for the Bath neighbourhoods and communities with greatest needs.

A bid was developed by the Partners and submitted in June 2000 for £6,000,000 over five years, for a proposal targeting numerous pockets of need in the city, identified using Index of Local Deprivation data at Enumeration District level.

BCP was awarded £50,000 by the South West of England Regional Development Agency in August 2000 to build capacity, carry out focused consultation and research, and strengthen the focus on the priority areas, and helped to reinforce commitment. It helped to fund three new local consultation studies, as well as a review of statistical data and previous research. There were also visits to other regeneration areas, training events and a number of other capacity building activities.

The Partnership submitted a set of proposals for the priority areas of Bath for funding which was supported by a
Framework for Regeneration that aspires
to identify those areas and Communities with
greatest Regeneration needs, and to set
priorities for action with those Communities. This enabled the Partnership to secure £1.5m from the SWRDA Single Rengeration Budget.

Commitment from the Partnership

What the Partnership will be working to achieve

The Partnership will be working throughout this scheme to:

  • Build the capacity of individuals and groups in the target communities to participate fully in local regeneration.
  • Build the capacity of all Partners to contribute to regeneration in the target communities.
  • Support bids to a variety of funders, to add value to projects and activities.
  • Support the growth of community enterprises with the potential to become self-financing.
  • Influence the future spending priorities of the wide range of agencies and organisations involved.
  • Support a funding strategy to ensure funding is available to support further Partnership activities.
  • Encourage the larger businesses within the area to join the Partnership and become proactive in funding activities.
  • Develop links with other funding bodies to secure funding for future development.
