On Saturday 18th June Carrswoodland Forum held a community consultation event at the woodland in Twerton. Over forty people attended a very successful afternoon of guided walks, meeting a barn owl and the installation of a willow sculpture in a tree. Refreshments were provided by Newton Mill Campsite and, despite the intense heat, an enjoyable afternoon was had by all.
The event was held to consult with the community living nearby as to how they feel about the woodland, access points and grazing animals on the land - among other issues. Organisers have also been working with children at St. Michael's Primary School in Twerton to find out their views and the school children have been undertaking projects in the woodland.
In addition, organisers are hoping to attract more people to join the Carrswoodland Forum - which is a community group set up to have a local input into managing the site.
The Carrswoodland activities have been organised by Wildspaces and Envolve and funded by - among others - Bath Communities Partnership.
