This projects objective is to support and train local residents to develop a community Forum for Carrs Woodland in Twerton. Aims include:
Carrying out a resident-led consultation about the site's current and potential use, including how it should be managed for people and biodiversity;
Work with the Forum, a group of local residents, to integrate findings into a management plan for the site with a view to gaining local Nature Reserve designation;
Increase both participation in, and the capacity of the Forum group to look after the site.
The project will be delivered in three phases:
Coordinate a community-led consultation about the future of the site, over a week. This will be carried out by Forum members.
Integrate finding from this consultation into a management plan for the site.
The forum will be promoted and publicised with leaflets designed by volunteers, inviting new members. Existing members will run a number of events, including leading a guided walk as a introduction to anyone interested. Support and training and advice will be provided for the forum member's to fcilitate the group's development, including the adoption of a constitution.
