Our mission is to help build a fairer, healthier and better-connected Birmingham.
We do this by turning local needs into practical, accessible and community-shaped programmes that respond to the realities people face.
We aim to reduce inequalities, build skills and confidence, strengthen connections, and help more people access and benefit from the opportunities, services and support around them.
We understand that one size does not fit all. Our approach is therefore proactive, practical and advocacy-centred by helping people understand their options, communicate what they need, navigate services and participate with greater confidence.
BCP supports Birmingham's wider ambitions for inclusive growth, opportunity, health, safety and stronger connections between people and the services around them.
Belong
We want people to feel able to take part in community life without stigma, exclusion or unnecessary barriers.
That means creating accessible, welcoming opportunities that recognise different starting points, lived experiences and needs.
It also means paying particular attention to circumstances where isolation, disability, neurodivergence, cultural barriers, financial pressure or unfamiliar systems can make participation harder or prevent it.
Connect
We help strengthen the connections between people, communities, services and opportunities.
Our approach is advocacy-centred: helping people understand their options, communicate what they need, make informed choices and navigate services with greater confidence.
Through practical programmes and support, we aim to make it easier for people to reach the right activities, opportunities, services and specialist support around them.
Progress
Participation should lead somewhere.
We aim to help people build confidence, develop useful skills, increase independence and move towards meaningful next steps.
Whether that is better access to services, improved relationships with services, improved wellbeing, learning, employment, creative opportunities, stronger community participation or another destination.
